Leagues
We plan to establish the following league system in Michigan:
- Local Leagues
- Regional Leagues
- State Champions League (for the best regional players)
We will also put on three regular tournament weekends open to ASA and FISTF members which will allow local players to pit their skills against top players from around the world.
We aim to establish both junior leagues and senior leagues. In accordance with the parent organisation ASA, some categories will not be competed for at some levels until enough players exist to provide a good depth at each level.
The categories (with their 2007/08 qualifying dates) are:
- M = Mini / Under 12 (born in or after 1996)
- J = Junior / Under 15 (born in or after 1993)
- Y = Youth / Under 19 (born in or after 1989)
- V = Veterans (born before Sep.1st 1968)
- L = Ladies
- Open
A player may compete in any of the categories to which they belong. For example, a 14-year-old girl can play in any of the categories except Veteran and Under-12.
There will also be an annual State Championship in a knockout format for all categories, including teams.
