Woodentop Pitch

Equipment

I have purchased three Woodentop Prima pitches and all three have been laid with absolutely no problems with 1 or 2 helpers.

The only thing I can imagine would cause the wrinkles would be if you forcefully lay the pitch out, spreading it out with too much tension and sideways force. I always lay mine down this way:

1) Lay the pitch down on the board, green side down. Use a table if available. Mark the corner locations and a couple of marks along the sides.

2) Peel off the backing to the halfway line and lay it ontop of the other half.

3) Lift the pitch at the halfway line with one finger under each side, and flip it backing side down. Position the one half according to the marks you make at the corners and sides.

4) With your hands inside the fold, holding the half down on the board, GENTLY smooth your hand into the centre circle area. Gently smooth down along the crease to the right edge and repeat for the left edge. Now you have the width stuck down you can use both hands for laying the pitch.

5) From the centre circle, push your left hand towards the goal a couple of inches, and smooth out a channel to the right edge. Then do the left edge again. Repeat this until you get to the goal edge and the first half is all stuck down.

6) Now peel the other half away a couple of inches at the time, using the same technique to stick down from the centre out, until you reach the other goal and the whole thing is down.
